It is so nice to know that there are family members around, although the name is not exactly the same. The other day I was shopping in Katwijk and was told that there is also a Leibrand family there. It is a small world. I had a look at your genealogy site and was surprised about the common roots of our families. One of my uncles had given me practically the same explanation as to the meaning of our family names and our origin. So we must be family. I have to admit that I have not done much, if anything about the genealogy of our branch. The uncle I mentioned above had investigated that a bit, but after he passed away the information was lost. The only information I have goes back to my grand father, but there is a family book, which I will consult during the Christmas break. My grandfather Carl Leibrandt was a pastor in a place called Bojanowo, which was until 1919, the treaty of Versailles, part of Germany and was then ceded to Poland. My father Heinrich Gottfried, a veterinary surgeon, was born in 1913; he passed away on 22 August of this year. His brothers were Friedrich, Erich, Otto, Rudolf, Martin and their sister Gertrud. All have passed away now; my father was the youngest. I grew up in a place called Wesel, just across the border from Arnhem. I came with my family to Holland in December 1969, when I was offered a job with the European Space Agency (then ESRO) in Noordwijk. Our sons are Jan and Kai, who was born in Leiden. Jan actually operates the website , which you mentioned. You find there also some pictures of me, the guy tinkering with the model aeroplane. Kai lives in Munich, Germany. We live now in Leiderdorp near Leiden, after having lived in Katwijk and Wassenaar before. Thanks again for contacting me. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Sincerely, Wolfgang Leibrandt I apologise for not writing in Dutch, but even after so many year in this country I have not managed to come to grips with the language, particularly in writing.
