Leipprandt Orchards in Pigeon, Michigan

About Us

Jeff & Kim Leipprandt, owners of Liepprandt Orchards in Pigeon, Michigan.

Jeff and Kim Leipprandt are the owners of Leipprandt Orchards, Pigeon, Michigan. The orchard has over 1,200 apple trees in about 35 different varieties. The large number of varieties gives them apples over a longer fall season, and also provides a variety of flavors and characteristics for different uses-some are best for pies, some for cider, and some are great to just eat fresh off the tree.

Jeff and Kim bought the orchard from Jeff's parents, Ted and Peggie Leipprandt, in 1999, who had started the business in 1970 while Ted was still employed as the CEO of the Co-Operative Elevator Company in Pigeon.

Ted Leipprandt started Leipprandt Orchards in Pigeon, Michigan

Originally it was a landscaping and nursery business, but this evolved over the years, particularly when Jeff went off to college. In 1986, Ted Jeff Leipprandt and his mother, Peggie, at Leipprandt Orchards in Pigeon, Michiganenjoyed his "first" retirement from the co-operative by planting 10 acres of apple trees. On his "second" retirement, he added the cooler, and the cider press.

The third generation, Joy and Troy, grew up working on the farm alongside their parents and grandparents, all of whom still work in the orchard and the Gift Shop. Joy worked in the Gift Shop with her mother and grandmother until she went off to college. Kim, Joy, Troy & Jeff LeipprandtTroy worked mostly in the back shop, producing his "world famous" donuts, running the cider press and working in the orchards. He is also in college now.

While sales are seasonal, raising apples requires a lot of work, year round. Right now, everyone pitches in when they can. Jeff is also a sales manager for Pioneer Hi-bred Seeds. Kim now devotes full time to the orchard and gift shop
