During the past few years, local authorities in this country have experienced major changes. Old mindsets had to make way for completely new ways of thinking. It is my view that only cities and towns with a clear vision and a dedicated sense of purpose will succeed in an ever-changing socio-economic environment.

The scale of economic change required in this region, can only be achieved by the creation of meaningful partnerships with local businesses, residents, outside investors and other agencies. The Kempton Park Tembisa MLC has realised that this can be achieved only through a paradigm shift towards a client-, and investor-friendly approach. And, of course, through a well-planned communication and publicity strategy.

This Council’s strategy is about more than just policy. It is about people.

People are central to the main purpose of the Council – to provide the services that people want and expect at affordable prices. It is also about making sure that the people employed by the organisation are well-trained, well-managed, motivated and productive.

"Masakhane is our business".

This is the Kempton Park Tembisa Metropolitan Local Council’s slogan. The meaning of the word Masakhane which, incidentally, reflects government policy, is "Let’s build together!"

So, people and development are the two central matters in all the Council’s activities. Should the Internet succeed to produce partners in these objectives, we will be elated.
