I have been reading your exchange with interest since I married into the same Lybrand family you are tracing. I have a copy of the original document from the South Carolina Archives- written in the hard to read old English script - and had started to develop a family tree on Lybrand, taking that and family data handed down as a start. What follows is my working paper to date, in case you have interest. Do not take this as all documented or accurate yet Jim Stepp

I.       Heinrick Leibrandt, son of Mattias Leibrand came from Germany near present Stuttgart at Kleiningersheim in the district of Bietingheim, part of Wurttemberg
m. Catherine Weiss 14 Nov 1724 in Kleingingersheim.
Childen: Johann Jacob (b. 22 Mar 1726, d. 7 Dec 1795 in Kleingersheim, m. Maria Frey Dinger; Johann Christian b. 8 Oct 1728; Maria Catherina b. 20 Aug 1731; Simon and Ambrosius (twins) b.29 July 1734; Margaretha Barbara b. 26 May 1737.
He and family sailed from Rotterdam, Holland spring 1753 on the ship Elizabeth. On the Journal dated 23 March 1753. denoting his arrival in South Carolina, he was entered as ‘Hendrick Lybrand’ , his wife and three children as named below In Sept 1753 he got a grant for 250 acres on the Saluda River (South Carolina) at 20 Mile Branch.               

1.        Christian Lybrand (b. 1724 (?), d. ) Age 28 when arrived in Charleston

2.        Simon Lybrand (b. 1734 (?), d. )Age 18 when arrived in Charleston

3.        Marie Margarita (b. 1736 (?), d. )Age 16 when arrived in Charleston



II.         Christian Lybrand (b. 1724 (?), d. ) Came over with his father and family on the ship Elizabeth as listed above.
       
1.        Martin Lybrand m. _______ Arehart

2.        Joseph Lybrand m. Margaret __ssinger. Children: John (died unmarried near Mobile, Ala.); Jacob (moved to Arkansas where his descendents are still living); Mary (m. Jack Clark - numerous descendents in Lexington county); Annie (m. William Taylor); Catherine (m. Alfred Mims); Julia (m. Jeremiah Hook)

3.        Christine Lybrand (Wingard)

4.        Keziah Lybrand (Haltiwanger)

5.        West Lybrand (moved to Aiken county, reared a large family near eh town of Wagener)

       other sons and daughters said to be John, Barnet, Josh, Jack


III.         Martin Lybrand married _______ Arehart [1790 census showed one Liebrant family (a John, wife and two sons and one daughter]15 Lybrand families in SC at that time.

       2 Godfrey Lybrand m. Barbra Kelly, children - Hampton (Augusta,GA), Wade (m. Sallie Shull), Lott “Preacher” (m. Sally Roof)

3.        Sim Lybrand m. Carrie Mathias, Children - Martin (m. Sue Cox), Elliot (m. _____ Smith), Joseph (died single), Lizzie (m. Martin Miller), Hattie (m. Jas. Albert Miller), Ella “Scottie” (m. Jas. Rikard), Alma (m. George Lee), Minnie (m. Wade Hook),
Decie and Cora died unmarried.

4.        Emanuel Lybrand m. Carrie Hook,

5.        Barnet Lybrand m. Rebecca Meetze (d. prior to 1790 census) dau. (m W L Shull); Son John (?) under 16 at 1790 census.
       
6.        Leah Lybrand m. Martin Sox , children: Emanuel (m. Nancy Buff); John (m. Lizzie Kaminer); Sofie (m. ____ Carter); Ellen (m. Daniel Corley); Mary (m. Edward Mathias); Rebecca (m. John Mathias); Lizzie (m. Wade Corley).

7.        Harriet Lybrand m. Adam Shull Children: Ransom (m. Mary Shull), Lizzie (m. John Gregory), no children; Henry (died in Virginia from wounds received in battle); John; Adam, Anne, Eva and Kattie never married.
8.        Cedelia Lybrand m. Weir Addy
9.        Orrie Lybrand m. Jobe Kaminer
