Current plans/efforts are underway to place order for first major batch of files is for January 1999. Records will only be ordered to match funds available at that time - those funds which are held by Elaine Morrison. There are many Bessarabian records available in the Odessa State Welfare Committee Fonds. This is our current target. However, many census and church records are available in Kischinev state archives for Moldavia, and we are checking very closely there to ensure that we do not duplicate what is being done by the LDS or the folks in the Bessarabian Museum in Stuttgart.

We also are aware of many Bessarabian records available in the Ismail archives and will be trying to gain understanding of how we might be able to obtain copies of some of them too.

We are in coordination with the other Records Retrieval Teams/Committees in North America as well as the leadership of the Bessarabian Museum in Stuttgart, Museum Director - Ingo Isert.
