GF!, Thanks for the email. My background is South African. My dad was one of 4 brothers from Cape Town, his name was Cyril Stuart Leibbrandt, born 23.11.1927. This name was by marriage to my grandmother who had the surname Rex. This 'Rex' originated from George III whose illigitimate offspring from Hannah Lightfoot (his mistress of many years) were sent off to SA and told not to come back! This surname was given to the family by the UK sovereign in the 18th Century because of the descent from royalty. The Rex surname was an honorary one .To investigate, I understand that this is all a matter of record in Cape Town's library. As a matter of interest, the rest of the family tree from my dad is as follows: married Doreen Gladys Kay. Three children - Anthony Paul Leibbrandt b.23.2.1956 - one child Sarah Louise Leibbrandt Christopher Mark (me!) b. 29.7.1957 - 3 children Philip Martin Leibbrandt b. 18.1.1983 Simon Eliot Leibbrandt b. 17.4.1985 Elizabeth Ann Leibbrandt b. 17.10.1987 Fiona Jane Leibbrant b. 4.2.1959 - 2 children Nicholas & Carly I hope all this helps! By the way, there was a very famous baseball player in the US (around the 1950's I think) called 'Lefty Liebbrandt, that may also help! Regards, Chris Leibbrandt Marketing Director Names! Hello Capt.
